Zhuzhou
Bean Source: Uganda
Inclusions: Candied Orange, Toasted Seasame Seeds, Five Spice Blend
Zhuzhou is a city in the Hunan Province of China. This destination and the culinary traditions of central China serve as the inspiration for this bar. Using Ugandan single-source chocolate as our base, we add in Chinese Five-Spice during the final hours of refining. Five Spice is meant to encapsulate the five tastes - sweet, sour, bitter, salty and unmami - and uses a blend of cinnamon, cloves, pepper corn, star anise and fennel. During the casting of the bar we sprinke in bits of candided orange peel and toasted seasame seeds.
Zhou-Zhou definetly has the least sweetness in its tasting profile compared to our other bars and has a lot of complexity in its layering of flavors - someone looking for a candy-bar like experience may not appreciate this one.
Cocoa Mass, Cane Sugar, Candied Orange Peel (Oranges, Sugar), Seasame Seeds, Spices
Produced in a facility that also processes nut products.
To improve chocolate's shelf-life, store in a cool, dark place. Refrigeration is okay, but allow chocolate to come back to room temperature prior to enjoying. Extended periods of refrigeration may change the chocolate’s texture.
Our Origin dark chocolate can keep 6-8 months. Our Destination chocolates (because of the addition of fruits and nuts) are best enjoyed within 2-4 months. But we hope you won’t wait that long!
